Corporate Social Responsibility at Annapurna Finance

Annapurna’s primary objective is to provide financial services to the unbanked and underserved segments of the society, in a socially responsiblemanner. It has designed its objectives keeping in mind the responsibilities it has for the society it lives in. Having a double bottom line approach, it believes that CSR is not just a mandate by law, but it is also a way of improving the company by being more sensitive towards the society and also in putting forward the image of conducting “Greener” business operations.

Apart from the activities specified in Schedule VII of Company’s Act, as attached below, Annapurna has always realized its Social Responsibility in the following spheres:

We are aware that businesses regardless of size have a large carbon footprint. The amount of paper used has been curbed at Annapurna, as the company is moving from maintaining file based data to storing on cloud. The loan application forms are also available in Tablets. Not only use of paper is reduced in its operations, but the company always sends a clear message of saving paper and thereby reducing carbon footprints.

Ethical Code of Conduct:

Fair and ethical treatment of employees is another responsibility of the corporation. Annapurna not only has a well-articulated employee code of conduct, but also firmly believes in ethical and fair treatment of all its clients.

Volunteering on occasions:

Annapurna has volunteered on various occasions where it has ably supported numerous causes. It has taken green initiatives and conducted workshops on national and internationally recognized days.

Ama Ghara

Ama Ghar is a children’s home that was carved out of Mission ASHRA on Dec 25, 2015 with the objective of providing a congenial and open environment for the children to grow and blossom. “Ama Ghara” in Odiya dialect stands for “Our Home”. It is a home to children of various mentally ill and destitute women that reside in ASHRA.

Currently, it is a home to 32 children, whose nutritional requirements, education, extracurricular skill building; such as painting, singing, dancing, instruments etc. by trained professionals, soft skills, etc. is taken care of through the CSR activities of Annapurna. Apart from this, various other events are organized for the children at Ama Ghara, such as painting competitions, etc.

Annapurna Microfinance is doing its CSR activities by taking care of the health and other needs of the children of Ama Ghara, not because it is obligated, but also for the love for the society the company works in. Additionally, the staffs at Annapurna are also sensitive towards this noble cause, therefore most of the occasions are celebrated with the children of Ama Ghara.
